How I Measure a Successful December on Social Media

Ah, December. The month of endless Christmas parties, family dinners, work events, and did I mention the mad dash to get everything done before the 25th? For many businesses, this is crunch time—a make-or-break month that can be the most profitable of the year.

That’s why my December social media goal is simple: 90% of my posts are scheduled before December 1st.

Why? Because when your calendar is packed with holiday chaos, the last thing you want is the stress of scrambling to post on the fly. Instead, you can focus on engaging with your audience, enjoying the season, and maximizing your business potential.

Ready to crush your December social media goals? Here are my five tips for setting your socials up for success this holiday season.

1. Start with a Clear Plan

The foundation of a stress-free December is having a game plan. Take a couple of hours to map out the month:

  • What promotions or events are happening?
  • Are there key dates to highlight (e.g., holiday markets, shipping deadlines)?
  • How can you weave in some festive vibes?

Once you’ve brainstormed, lay it all out in a content calendar. This will give you a bird’s-eye view of what needs to be posted and when. Bonus: it helps you spot gaps or overlaps so you can adjust before you’re in too deep.

2. Batch Create Your Content

Let’s be real—no one wants to be writing captions or creating graphics during a Christmas party. That’s why batching is a lifesaver.

Set aside one or two focused sessions to:

  • Write captions for all your posts.
  • Create graphics or edit photos.
  • Film and edit reels or videos (holiday trends, anyone?).

When you batch tasks, you’ll be amazed at how much you can get done in a short time. Plus, it saves you from the daily what do I post today? panic.

3. Schedule Everything

Once your content is ready to go, it’s time to get it scheduled. Use tools like Meta Business Suite, Later, or Hootsuite to automate your posts for the month.

Aim to have 90% of your content scheduled before December 1st. This way, you only need to check in for engagement or any last-minute updates. Trust me, the peace of mind is worth it.

Pro Tip: Leave some wiggle room for spontaneous posts. You never know when a magical snowy day or a fun behind-the-scenes moment will make the perfect addition to your feed!

4. Focus on Engagement

Scheduling posts is just the beginning. The real magic happens when you interact with your audience. Take time each day to:

  • Respond to comments and DMs.
  • Engage with your followers’ content (hello, relationship-building!).
  • Join conversations on trending topics or hashtags.

December is the perfect time to build stronger connections—it’s all about that festive spirit, after all.

5. Measure Success (Beyond Just Likes)

Here’s the thing: December isn’t just about vanity metrics. Yes, likes and comments are great, but what really matters is whether your social media efforts are driving results.

Ask yourself:

  • Are your posts increasing website traffic or sales?
  • Is your audience engaging with your holiday promotions?
  • Are you getting new followers who align with your ideal customer?

For me, a successful December means I hit my scheduling goal, stayed engaged with my audience, and helped drive meaningful results for my clients.
